It is only now that I have the opportunity of reading your’s of September 4th, which was previously submitted, upon request, to Miss Could and Miss Petluck. I left Barcelona before it reached there, and since then it has been following me to different countries. I think what I told you in mine of Sept. 9th clear all matters pretty well, answering as well this new letter from you which both ladies know. But previously, on Sept 7th I wrote to Miss Petluck that I gathered some courage to make final decisions, as I could not keep on indefinitely like that. FIVE YEARS of promises by the UN and FIVE months of waiting in vain fox results from the WORLD CHURCH SERVICE were amply sufficient for me, and I could no longer resist to be so deceived or forced to go through all sorts of empiric essays which irremissibly ended in failures or nothing practical. I am not a person likely to love fooling himself with vain delusions. That is why I told Miss Petluck of the UN that I would remain available until all is settled, and that they would know how to find me. But my faith is seriously impaired, and I would be insulting myself if I insisted on trusting that some good results can ever be produced where failure seems to have been the natural earmark.
I must gamely face realities, and seek a solution to my tragedy in other ways.
Now it appears that they want more documents, and worse of all for me they claim that the Gnostic Church must notarized a sort of affirmation or guaranty on my behalf. Hell, am I known trustworthy enough, or big enough to do my own guaranteeing? That looks to me awfully inquisitorial. Or I am set to wonder if they are driving at some sort of impasse. Why on earth must they pick on the Gnostic Church? Not only I would have to make out my own document of guaranty, such as the Pope would do fox himself, or others would do so under my own precise orders, but I do not get quite clear what they are driving at. - In the first place I refuse to make out a document on my own behalf.
But above all, why discriminate? The whole world says I am a Religious Leader, my passport affirms that I am a Religious Leader, and I was martirysed in communist Cuba because of my conditions as Religious Leader. Then, I have held high positions in different Religions, such as Buddhism, Taoism, Jainism, Islam, Gnosticism, Christianism, etc., and I resigned them all so to became President of the UNIVERSAL CULTURAL,HUMANIST,RELIGIUUS AND SPIRITUAL ALLIANCE FOR MODERN TIMES as well as for the Spiritual Guidance of numerous organizations like the UNIVERSAL HOLY REALM Inc. of New York. I am also the Spiritual Religious paradigm of numerous semi religious and profoundly philosophic-spiritual organizations, Initiatic Schools, Spritual Sanctuaries, etc. - Why, therefore, should be forced to prove that I belong to the Gnostic Church particularly? As a matter of fact I belong to all the RELIGIONS indifferently, because I am essentially RELIGIOUS.
I loathe such an implication as it deems to me that it implies in my case a dictatorial measure. Or is merely a matter of legal procedure? Anyway it does not appear anything but sailing under a false democratic flag, to me. The United States Constitution, for all I know, is implicit in regards to RELIGIOUS FREEDOM, and nowhere does it specify whether a person be a Christian in order to rate the treatment of RELIGIOUS, or of HUMAN BEING. I sincerely believe that such impositions constitute stringent shackles to HUMAN DIGNITY, and nothing could be more revolting to HUMAN CONSCIENCE according to my own Teachings. In Texas, in the year I935 more or less, I was told my Immigration Officers that I was not admissible to America because I couldn´t prove religious status, despite the fact that I had entered the country as the Official Representative of the entire Buddhist world, including Tibet’s Lamaism in order to attend the Chicago WORLD CONGRESS OF FAITHS held in the year I933. I certainly don’t want to go through unsavory details again. And once they had my notarized document about the Gnostic Church, if I ever wanted to really make it out after all, would I again be rebuked, despised and insolently dealt with just because my religious papers are not in order according to the expected specifications? Would this not also be a good ground to REJECT me again because I am not a full-fledged christian? Certainly, the U.S. Constitution is nowhere so DISCRIMINATING, but my own experiences prove that nowadays even with flourishing democracy at hand too many injustices are being committed.
Do they mean to imply that all the documents sent to the UN by hundreds of religious, spiritual and humanist organizations throughout world during my ordeal in Cuba must remain idle and without value? Are all the documents sent now to the UN BUREAU FOR REFUGEES also without the least value as Miss Petluck states, meaning and proving absolutely NOTHING. And what about the Incorporation papers of the UNIVERSAL HOLY REALM, are they also worthless despite the fact that we seemingly or unseemingly have there a Religious Organization legally established under the Laws of New York State? Goodness gracious, they must be wanting rather badly to find faults in me.
Of one sure I am absolutely certain, it is that they will not get neither a letter nor a simple notarized scrap of paper from me any more. What Miss Petluck and Miss Gould have on file should suffice to prove WHO or WHAT I am, and if it is true that the UN REFUGEE COMMISSARIAT and the WORLD CHURCH SERVICE are there to help me in my case, which is a tragedy imposed on my person for some undetermined reasons, it is obvious that these enormous amounts of documents should be utilized for the good cause. If they are not convinced, I really fail to understand how I can help them any more. Maybe they want us to forge some documents, shipshape for other motives? Goodness one cannot any longer think straight in this meander of chaotic conditions. THE BODHA (SPIRITUAL REALIZATION) SOCIETY OF AMERICA Inc. is also a religious entity, Assembly or EKKLESIA (Church). Why should their documents be despised? It can‘t b because it is a purely American organization. But The Aghartha, the Universal Spiritual Union, etc, are all equally Incorporated legally in America, since very many years. What are they driving at? Why so many complications? Why all this precious time lost, wasted in futile arrangements which seem to lead nowhere? I think that I am in my own right to be impatient, but I do not wish in the least to impose on anybody, so if there are imperatives, passwords or Ukases which render my case unsolvable I think there should frankly tell me so.
Now it seems that some letters of protest are reaching there regarding my case, tragedy or whatever we should call it. But why imply that either you or myself are responsible for such requests or demands? We are communities of truly FREE people. I think it is mighty well that some organizations should raise the dickens, for this is a terrible problem which affects HUMAN CONSCIENCE. They should consider themselves lucky, for they would have not only dozens but hundred of organizations and millions of people protesting and condemning their failures and delays. It is up to them to solve this tragic situation insofar as they are officially committed. Furthermore, I would never be a party to any sort of dictatorship among us, and I feel rather satisfied that all organizations attached to us remain absolutely independent and self-respecting. - I have never given out orders throughout the world to the effect of defending my person; nor would I ever demand from anybody not to do so. Matters of HUMAN CONSCIENCE should never be interfered with. This shows to what extreme we are
RELIGIOUS.
You state that Miss Petluck and Miss Gould are well impressed, and that they mean to help me. I am truly obliged to them. What I lament the most, nevertheless, is that appearances seem rather against me. It looks as if we were merely fighting a lost cause. If there should be doubts as to my RELIGIOUS AND SPIRITUAL Character, they should, nevertheless, remember that I am a REFUGEE. Must all refugees be screened out, brainwashed and processed for such a long time ere they deserve true assistance?
At first they were pretty keen on my means of sustenance, and I had to produce by all means an EMPLOYER. Did they do the same when the Pope went to America? Well, He is the head of a State, after all. Anyway, it would be motive for mirth if I had to tell the Immigration Authorities that I am employed by God and in the Service of all mankind. I would be stating the absolute TRUTH, and well within the requirements of the U.S. Constitution from all living beings, yet I am pretty sure they would rebuke me in a fine way. I was already told that I was in the service of the wrong God, in Texas, but considering that now we are going through Ecumenical times and portentous Democratic situations, they may possibly ship me back to No Man’s Land, the foul territories of the unwanted REFUGEES, created by INHUMAN freaks for the unwary HUMANS.
Maybe they have never heard of a MAN such as me, in America. Well, I am and I shall remain what I am, regardless of what people think or believe or fancy about me. I am, I would venture to say, truly a HUMAN BEING, and a RELIGIOUS LEADER, and also a REFUGEE with the Universal eternal TRUTH I shall stand against the whole world, if need be. But I shall never compromise on my conscience.
Even though I should be considered a freak, I REMAIN THE SERVER OF GOD, TRUTH AND HUMANITY. - This, I have amply demonstrated to the Madrid men, when they visited me and when I visited them. They seemed well satisfied then when I affirmed that I AM A FREE MAN, A RELIGIOUS LEADER, A HUMAN BEING, and a CUBAN REFUGEE. - Why should all this be doubted now? But even if I were truly fooling the UN and the American authorities, trying to get into that privileged American Paradise under false pretense, have they no laws there to deal with unscrupulous homo sapiens. I wonder sometimes if they don‘t take me for a negro, because of the fact that I was born in India. One more would be too much!
Looks like Thant is truly getting out that UN false White elephant. He certainly deserves credit for finally telling those disunited nations of. I wish I were in his place, and you would hear me in my best Jupiterian style. Anyway I shall congratulate him for having mustered enough courage to make some startling although quite well known revelations.
So, en resume, they already know absolutely well that I am a religious man, or at least a Buddhist, as well as a Christian (Liberal Church, U.S.A). They have numerous documents in different files. If they discriminate, I don’t feel like appetizing such a treatment. If my ordeal and martyrdom in Cuba means absolutely nothing for the UN, the American Government, the World Church Service, etc, I am sorry for their attitude. They can deny me the status due to a HUMAN BEING, to a RELIGIOUS LEADER, or to a REFUGEE, but they will never, never, never destroy me, or prove to the whole wide universe that they can build by being so discriminating, unfair and unreasonable. They also have endless evidences demonstrating that I am a GNOSTIC and a SPIRITUAL GUIDE. But even if I were only an agnostic and a simple educator, writer, or free thinker, I would still be an endlessly maltreated REFUGEE and a much despised and unrespected HUMAN BEING. Yet, in ultimate analysis, I would still prefer to be considered a HUMAN BEING in the spirit of the Unites States Constitution Preamble and as worded in the UN Human Rights, if they truly mean something to modern world-fixers. This is my CHARACTER, what I AM really, and if I ever be permitted to set foot on American soil it must be on such assumptions, principles and absolute realities. These conditions may not constitute certainties to many people nowadays, but I hold them as ingredients of my CHARACTER.
I do not think there is anything else to add. Miss Petluck and Miss Gould, and the U.S. Immigration authorities may take due notice of this answer of mine if they so care. Should this not suit their wishes, I am sorry I cannot comply otherwise.
When I was incarcerated in Cuba, it was in my capacity as Spiritual Guide, and Christian Bishop of the LIBERAL CHURCH. If that was good enough for the Police registry at Havana, could it not be equally satisfactory elsewhere? Even blind people knew in Havana that I was the Bishop of the LIBERAL CHURCH — But let us not talk too much about Cuba, as in America this may be cause for still more prejudice. Who would think of a cuban christian in communist Cuba? Only I was not a communist, and I am beginning to wonder what would have been my fate had I been smart enough to accept this dictatorship. What I have been forced to endure since my liberation from the communist hell has not been in the least any better, or less tragical for me and my family.
It is no fun being battered as I have been since deliverance from the cuban jail in I962, and to me it is utterly sickening that so many new complications should be throughout out now and again. Being a REFUGEE is the worse insult to Human Dignity, and I fail to comprehend how and why any one should further kindle this abominable fire of suffering by indulging in inconsequential hairsplitting. - If they don’t hurry, and solve my problem I may yet be forced to return to Cuba and tell the Fidel Castro goons how despicable I am for having forsaken the paradise I was then being offered. God only knows if the whole blunder is on my part. I let HUMAN CONSCIENCE be my judge, and may the whole world be my witness.
If they insist on having another Notarized document, I would suggest you sign this latter as received, then get a Notary application, and then they will have the entire inner and outer dimensions, human as well as spiritual of my personality. If they don’t like me, they can turn me down once for all, and at least we shall enjoy the relief of knowing what is meant by religion, democracy and humanism at the UN and in America at large.
They want a Notarized document from a Church or Religious Organization. If your’s as HOLY REALM Inc. is not respectable enough or no good at all, then let them have this exposé of mine as Head of the Essene-Gnostic Church. It is fresh and direct. I dislike giving orders to people under my care and authority to make out documents recommending me. In the Orient, no ancient Religious or Spiritual Community (Church in the sense of Ekklesia) has the habit of handing over Certificates of Authority, and although they might Notarized a paper with some affirmations this would appear too ludicrous to even request them such a favor. It would certainly appear preposterous that I, as Spiritual Guide and Religious Leader should even suggest such a procedure. Spiritual people’s mind seldom functions as that of arch-civilized marvel of the West, and they would wonder why I should expect their word to be considered more important or more acceptable than my own. What a predicament.
I truly think that it is about time they stopped shocking Human Conscience with so many complications. If a HUMAN BEING is not that, he must be simply a cosmic abstraction. If am not a REFUGEE, I must be some sort of hellish virus. And, last but not least, if I am not to be considered as a RELIGIOUS LEADER for sure they will believe I am the phantom of Cuba or something else just as irrational. Quousque tandem?
This is the universal foundation upon which I stand and it is true, eternal SPIRITUALITY. Our forthcoming General Assembly of the WORLD CONGRESS OF ALL THE RELIGIONS, FAITHS, FRATERNITIES AND SPIRITUAL PHILOSOPHIES scheduled to convene in America in the near future may have to be called off, and I´ll have to do some explaining. Well, I made promises on the promises of the promises made to me by the World Church Service and the UN Commissariat for REFUGEES. I’d profoundly dislike telling them that my predicament is such that I am forced to seek respectability, peace and freedom elsewhere. But what else can I really do under the present circumstances? We certainly need a miracle, and it better not be Roman. Am at home only in true UNIVERSALITY.
Now, regardless of happenings, we must not yield to either pessimism or any sort of outside pressure. In the Orient numerous religious bodies are demanding from us “explanations for the delays in our activities and also for the difficulties encountered in America for my asylum there as a simple human being, refugee from a communist country’s barbarian procedures, and connoted religious leader as well as singular Spiritual Guide of Human Conscience”. I still have to work out a valid answer. They say they are “astonished and appalled”, but I tell them that we should not present evidences that we are crushed by distress, as this would be admitting their triumph over our Spiritual integrity. We must not confess any sort of defeat by the ignominious forces of crude materialism however well disguised they may be. Great tasks only demand greater dedication to eradicate the ills that infect, destroy and disrupt this otherwise wonderful planet. Maybe there are powerful interests in America that do not want or cannot admit the least competition which we might afford the people in general with our Universality of Spiritual Realization and our unminced Fraternalization of all the Great Religions. They may believe foolishly enough, that by keeping out of America the chief Spiritual inspirer and guiding force (myself) they can prevent out worldwide success. Well, let us ignore petty sectarianism and mean fanatical designs. Our field of expression is too noble to limit our endeavors when we have a wonderful Religious Communion and Spiritual Realization to achieve.
The inhumanity of man toward man shall not continue indefinitely. Neither can nations, churches and peoples indulge in villainies and atrocities without suffering sooner or later the natural consequences. Let us hope my own ordeal will end soon, and may God Bless you all in America.
